September 28, 2023
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, celebrates her 77th birthday today. She is the longest-serving prime minister of Bangladesh, having served in office since 2009. Under her leadership, Bangladesh has made significant progress in all areas of development, including poverty reduction, economic growth, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Hasina was born in Tungipara, Gopalganj, Bangladesh, on September 28, 1947. She witnessed the horrors of the 1971 liberation war firsthand, as she was held captive by the Pakistani army along with her family. However, she emerged from this experience stronger and more determined to build a better future for her country.
After the liberation of Bangladesh, Hasina joined her father in his political journey. She was elected to the Bangladesh Parliament for the first time in 1986. She went on to serve as the leader of the opposition for several years before becoming prime minister in 2009.
As prime minister, Hasina has implemented a number of policies that have led to Bangladesh’s economic transformation. These include investing in infrastructure, education, and healthcare; promoting women’s empowerment; and creating a favorable environment for business and investment. As a result of these efforts, Bangladesh has become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
Hasina has also placed a strong emphasis on sustainable development. Under her leadership, Bangladesh has made significant progress in reducing poverty, improving food security, and expanding access to education and healthcare. Bangladesh is also at the forefront of the fight against climate change, having implemented a number of innovative adaptation and mitigation measures.
Hasina's achievements have been widely recognized by the international community. In 2015, she was awarded the United Nations Sustainable Developmentsource Goal Champion Award for her leadership in promoting sustainable development in Bangladesh. She has also been ranked among the world's most powerful and influential women by Forbes magazine.
On her 77th birthday, we pay tribute to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her outstanding service to Bangladesh. She is a true visionary leader who has transformed the country into a rising economic power and a global leader in sustainable development. Under her leadership, Bangladesh is on track to achieve its full potential and become a developed country by 2041.
Happy birthday, Prime Minister Hasina!
